About Shadow Intelligence

Shadow Intelligence exists because SaaS teams deserve better than surprise. We built this from real operating experience, not theory.

Origin

Built inside operating work

Method

Human-led intelligence judgement

Standard

Private, source-disciplined work

Experience

Built in the trenches of SaaS competition

Shadow Intelligence comes from real operating experience: building competitive intelligence inside a SaaS company and watching leadership decisions change once the market picture became clearer.

01

The starting point

My journey in competitive intelligence began when I built a competitive intelligence department from scratch at a successful pharmaceutical software company. Management originally described our company as one without any real competitors within the niche.

02

The after-hours build

I pitched a solo project constructing an intelligence department and process in my after-work hours. Soon I was giving weekly debriefs on competitor activity nobody had been watching.

03

The operating shift

Executives that once thought we were operating alone within our niche were now factoring intelligence I had gathered into every strategic decision.

04

Why Shadow exists

That experience shaped the premise behind Shadow Intelligence: SaaS teams deserve competitive intelligence that is built from real operating pressure, not theory.

Founder note

Shadow Intelligence is brand-led, but the standard is personal: serious research, restrained interpretation, and intelligence leadership can use without exposing the internal playbook.

Operating Principles

Serious intelligence work has to be disciplined.

The point is not to make competitive information louder. The point is to make it useful enough for decisions your team already has to make.

01

Human judgement

Technology supports monitoring. Strategic interpretation stays with a person.

02

Public-source discipline

Work is grounded in legitimate, defensible information practices.

03

Client confidentiality

Competitive priorities, briefings, and operating models stay private to each engagement.

04

Signal restraint

The function is designed to reduce noise.

Shadow Intelligence SI mark

Proprietary system. Discreet operation.

The operating stack is the foundation. The strategic judgement is the edge. Together, they give SaaS teams an intelligence desk that can run between planning cycles. Know First. Win More.
